Dear Brothers of Local 2405,

I have been aware that for sometime now that attendance at our Lodge meetings
have been down.
As your President I would like to know what we as a Local
could do to improve attendance and get more members involved within the Lodge.
Recently the officers have decided to place a suggestion box out at the meetings.
This will allow you to list your concerns and they will be discussed at the end of
the meeting. If we don’t have an answer for your question at that time we will find
the answer and get back with you. The suggestion box will be a tool so that you can
let us know what information is pertinent or important to you? We as officers want to
be able to provide the information you need to work safely and yet remain with in the
 confines of your agreement.

We are aware of the fact that many of our members are out on the road working which
makes it difficult for them to get to the meetings. However, that one day every quarter
might be the difference between them losing or keeping their job. We feel very
uncomfortable that we are not able to get out the information that needs to be out there.
But we can’t get the information to you if you don’t attend the meetings. If something
should occur, and we or the Federation are not contacted for assistance you could
be putting your jobs in jeopardy. These are just a few of the concerns I have for our
members out in the work force. The other officers and I want to be there to assist you.
But as members you have the responsibility of keeping us within the loop so that we
 are able to help you.

As members of Local 2405 it is your responsibility to make an effort to attend the
meetings and be involved. It is after all, your Local, and as a member it is your duty
to keep it strong and effective.

As your President I am willing to listen to any and all suggestions. My goal is to make
our Lodge a more effective and cohesive team.

Solidarity, Sal Tovar
